Getting By and Journals

My approach to diet is half theory and a few attempts to glimpse reality. What I mean is I know what's good, I have half an idea on how to get it organised but I want to hide from the truth of what I really eat.
Began the day with biscuits. Even went out and bought them before breakfast. What a sad confession!

A few years ago I tried to  get some organisation into how I think about things. I started a journal. Not just a diary but the type of journals that became popular in the USA a few years back - journaling. Here are a couple of links for people who are interested.

Journaling is a highly structured way of organising your thoughts, and I guess of facing yourself. I found it very hard, probably not quite liking what I saw. It might be something I go back to but for me the problem was this. When you get so well organised there are no excuses left. You really bring yourself up hard against the need to act.

I've tended instead to be driven by needs from a different source - like being ill, having gastritis, having pressing deadlines. In other words I allow my eating habits to be swayed constantly by what's happening outside me. Yes, the logic of going back to the journaling is compelling. I have to change something.
